Google Chrome does not respect the Windows display DPI setting in Display Properties. No good.

Now I need some way to set the default zoom. Pressing Ctrl+[+] five times on every tab is getting very old very fast.

Is there an answer to this question?  I have the same issue.  I tried going to Chrome beta; it simply didn't work at all.

Is anyone at Google reading this?  Even a "no, there's no fix for that right" would help.

Agree with the previous posters, it's very annoying having to reset zoom when starting chrome and opening new tabs. Why can't there be a default zoom setting which gets remembered? I can't read pages without resetting this every time (I have played with font sizes but this isn't useful at all). Every other app on my Vista is OK, with the display resolution I use except Chrome, so Google, can you please just add a setting so I can fix zoom level?

/sign request for this feature.  I close and reopen my browser four times an hour, and it really gets annoying having to readjust the zoom.

ya same problem with me...it is very annoying to press cntrl ++ everytime...for that matter opera made the task easier by providing fixed zoom option as well as that the page can be zoomed by pressing + only

I agree.  I have 1920x1080 on a 15.4" laptop screen, so I can't even start to use Chrome without a default zoom feature.

Does anyone actually monitor these threads I wonder, or are we just whistling in the wind here.....? Are these forums just a corporate sop to the paying public to make it look as if we do have an input into the product and so get us to 'buy in'. I do wonder. When we all take time out to try to contribute constructively to the success of Chrome and there's not a hint from Google that anyone is actually paying attention, I wonder why I bother.

By the way, I'd be interested if anyone else who's posted in other threads has ever had a response of any kind from Google. Let us know.

So, again; is anyone in Google actually listening here? Some sort of acknowledgement or response to 'agraham's original question would be courteous, along the lines of whether or not this feature is ever likely to be included or not?

Wwwweeeeeeooooo.....is that the sound of tumbleweed in the wind I hear....

kackac I wonder the same thing.  I used to use Chrome exclusively, but then I had to reinstall XP and found this problem.  I have a feeling there are many people in a similar boat.

I totally agree with this issue, I think there is some file settings for WebKit, and Im pretty sure that has to be some kind of "zoom" parameter, but I don't know webkit parameters...
Google chrome is wasting users due to this issue.

Thanks for that samol, it helps a bit. But using this workaround with larger font sizes ruins some page layouts though.....so we still need a "zoom lock" feature in Chrome to sort this problem once & for all.

It looks like it is possible for Google to incorporate this feature, hopefully they will soon.

While I agree heartily with the foregoing posts, I would like to expand on the change request.

Before I get into that, though, I would like to applaud the efforts of the folks working on Chrome.
I think the software has the potential to be a great product, and I'm especially impressed by the browser's speed of access and display.

Having said that, I think the product would be even greater if Google would incorporate a
couple of features to be found on a rival's product. In particular, I would like to see the adoption
of both the "Text Size" and "Zoom" features which are to be found under the "Page" button
of the toolbar for Internet Explorer.

More precisely, it would be valuable to have both of the following capabilities.

(a) The ability to use a larger font - which can be done in IE via the "Text Size" setting.
If a  larger "Zoom" size is chosen instead in IE, then I need to slide the window back and forth on the browser for every line of text; but this hassle can be avoided by selecting a large "Text Size"
rather than a high "Zoom" setting.

(b) The incorporation of persistence in the settings for Chrome. The settings should endure
for new tabs WITHIN  the current session as well as ACROSS sessions. The latter situation
crops up, for instance, when the browser is reopened after the computer is shut down
at the end of the day.

To the Chrome folks, let me say: Thanks for your efforts - and keep up the good work!

I also need this to switch to Chrome. My eyes are not that good anymore.

Creating a button to enlarge the text would also help (Safari just got one).

firefox has this feature
that if you see a site with small text you can zoom it full (new chrome has included this)
but
the problem is you have to enlarge it every time you open that webpage
whereas firefox automatically zooms the page to last zoomed level as soon as u open that webpage(includin any tabs from that webpage )
this is very handy feature
kindly include it
Updates:
I DONT SUGGEST "TEXT ONLT ZOOM" as it unbalancesand deforms  the webpage as the columns and pictures get distorted
i m happy with chromes whole page zoom facility

but all i am asking is to make chrome remember the zoom level of webpage(previously viewed and set  like in firefox) so that i dont need to enlarge everytime i visit my favourite site 6/6/09
OR IF THATS NOT POSSIBLE JUST GIVE A BUTTON SOMEWHERE WHICH CAN BE CLICKED TO INCREASE THE ZOOM LEVEL IN BROWSER WINDOW SO THAT WHATEVER SITE OPENS IN THAT, IS SUFFICIENTLY ZOOMED (like in INTERNET EXPLORER)

people at CHROME please address this problem

1920x1080 on a 18.4" laptop screen, and Ive changed my DPI settings but my damn google Chrome is ..........tiny....

im not going to press ctrl and + everytime I open up a new screen,............... LAAAAAAAAAAAAME!!

the only way to solve this is to reduce my resolution, which realllllllly sucks.

Come on Google!  add a ZOOM LOCK feature!!!!!!!!!  that will remember my zoom settings.......

please  :)

It´s really annoying to repeat Crlt + on every new tab opened... And this is a very simple feature!
People are complaining since 2008.  Why don't just make-it?

Not being able to set zoom is horrible shortcoming. I thought that I was missing something, but as soon as I search this I found out that it is reported problem that google has not fixed!!!
I have switched to Chrome today and I really like how fast it is compare to IE. But not being able to fix the zoom level is a deal breaker.
I hope that they fix it soon. I will not use Chrome till they fix this problem.

I have tryed to use Google Chrome for one month, and I can say that is a fantastic browser.

But repeat Ctrl + + on every page turns the internet experience slowest and anoying.

I'm backing for my old browser, but I will back for chrome when this issue is resolved.

I could hardly believe that Google had missed out on this vital feature for anyone with a hi res monitor and worsening eyesight. Chrome is so fast and reliable but I am having to use IE still much of the time.
However, reading through these comments I'm amazed that nobody mentions using the Ctrl + mouse wheel method of zooming. It is still a bore to do it on every new tab/page but a sight better than Ctrl + +++.
