I cannot figure out how to fix this problem -

Google Sync was working perfectly for the first several days I had it on my Blackberry Curve 8330.  Now, when I choose "Sync Now," the "Starting Sync, Connecting to Google" message box comes up, but nothing happens.

I tried choosing "Sign Out" and the "Removing items" message box came up, but again, nothing.

I only use Google Calendars and my Blackberry Calendar (no Outlook, no iCal) - how can I get this to work?

This is my personal phone (not a company's), and I have Verizon.  Please help!

I was just having the same problem with my new BB 8330.   I re-installed the sync application from the http://m.google.com/sync link instead of Google Mobile Apps.   It was the exact same version #, and the installation app asked if I really wanted to install it.  I verified "yes".

As I installed it I had the option of selecting the Permissions.  I set everything to "Allow".

It is syncing now, for the first time.   I'm also taking it step by step and starting with Contacts.  Calendars will be next.

Hope that helped!

I've got a BB 8330 and have the same problem.

Remove the battery (without shutting the BB off) and let it sit for approx. 1 minute, then reinstall the battery, let the BB boot back up which it'll do automatically, and it'll prob. run fine for a couple days.

This solution has worked for now, though it's not the most convenient.

Help, I just found the sync application today.  I loaded it and it worked.  Then signed out and now I can't sign back in!!!  Keeps freezing on "connecting to google".  I tried all of the above and still not working.  Any other ideas????  This is exactly the app I've been looking for and was so happy when I found it.

Playing around some more, I think I just answered my own question...
Obviously kind of new to my Blackberry and this is the most fiddling I've done with it - while playing around I actived the firewall which was previously not activated. Now I can sync and connect.
Does anyone know if the firewall should be up or down?

I have had the same problem.
Here is what seems to have to fixed it for me.

Go into the Blackberry's Options menu, then Advanced, the Applications. Go to the entry for Google Sync.
Change all three permissions to allow
Also, click the scroll wheel and select the item for reset firewall prompts.
Save your changes
Then go to the calendar and start a sync. You will get the usual sort of BB prompt about allow this connection?  Select always.

You will also have redo your google sync options, to tell it how many weeks in past/future you want to sync, also check to make sure that contacts and calendar are both selected to sync.  Check to make sure the correct calendars are selected to sync. I had to reselect syncing for both my own and my wife's calendar for example.

Seems to have done the trick for me.

Taking the battery out worked for me, as strange as that seems.  The application had worked for me for months with no issues and then just stopped one day.  After several (highly frustrating) weeks of searching for answers and trying different things, the battery-out-for-60-seconds trick worked.

All you have to do is reinstall it... Then click ALLOW on all the configurations
