OS: Android 2.1 on Nexus One (affects other Android versions too)
Unlike on the iPhone, Nexus One (and
other Android devices) have alphabetically sorted app launchers.
We want to avoid the negative effects of the alphabetically sorted app
launcher. Yes; it makes apps easier to find, there's a search function, and
we can put app shortcuts on the home screens. However, the app list can
still greatly influence our behaviors. We will tend to see and use more
often apps that are first on the list.
This issue affects users and developers. Perhaps, some app makers
realized this so they chose to name their apps starting with letters
that come first in the alphabet or numbers because numbers are on top of
the app list.
How do we the negative effects of an alphabetically sorted app launcher
as users and app makers?
