Looks like they already removed it. Sucks.

Yeah, now I have a huge label list and I hate to scroll down every time I want to check up something in a particular label.

I hope they put that back. Or, I hope they allow toggling the width of the inbox so that it can be narrowed down and the labels moved to the right through the Navbar Drag and Drop lab feature.

This removal of right side labels really sucks. I care about managing my mail, left column is already crowded with stuff, liked having quick scan of my full list of labels in right column. This is a step backwards in my view. Right side Chat does nothing for me, don't even use it.

Agreed to s_patrick, like Blogger let us choose each widget placement. User convenience please...

Please bring back right-side labels!

PLEASY BRING THEM BACK! The left side is TOO cluttered, and right side chat doesn't cut it. PLEASE!!!

Another vote to BRING RIGHT SIDE labels back...
Also, new way loses it's "theme" formatting (currently using Ninja, and the labels are no longer in a white box - doesn't look cohesive with the rest of the elements)

I import all my other emails(Yahoo, hotmail, aol) to gmail, i also get news feeds in gmail and to manage all these i use labels, now left side labels means lot of scrolling, up and down which is most irritating part. And how come chat got to go on right side?

Bring back right-side labels! We should be able to move around our boxes wherever we want. We want choice, not for Google to paternalistically tell us what is best for us.

Please bring back right side labels. I have over 30 labels that I use every day to manage communication with various clients. On the right side they are easy to see and click with my mouse. My workflow has been very disrupted by this change. Removing the capability without at least discussing with users seems downright hostile. Shameful Google.

I really need it since I use it extensivly.
I've got a long list of labels and a bunch of filters set up to archive each incoming email to each label-folder.
Then I use the label list to check how many unread emails are on each label-folder.
By keeping the label list on the left side I can no longer see the other gadgets like chat, calendar, twitter, docs and more.
I'm really desapointed with this rollback.
Which will be the next labs feature to go away?

Here here! I agree with all of the above and with less caps.

This lab option should be re instated!

Right-side labels was probably one of the most convenient aesthetic features in GMail.  I hope Google really reconsiders the right-side labels option.  And really, I think a better option would be to apply the "drag-and-drop" idea for individual labels to the entire GMail interface.  Just imagine being able to drag and drop any of the... um... things, whatever you want to call them, gadgets, "little boxes", whatever.  That would be nice...

In Gmail help (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=118708), "Tell us what you think about the new features" is posted on the bottom of the "Using Labels" page.  Ask Google to bring back right side labels!

Hate to say it, but I personally think Google made a bad decision on this one.  I already miss the labels.

Why does Google keep changing things and not giving users an option?!  What happened to not being evil?  First it was iGoogle (which I am happy to not be using anymore) and now it's Gmail.  Labels are worthless to me now.  If I wanted folders I would go use some other email service.  Get a clue Google!

I assume Google can see the amount of negative reaction the inaugural removal of a lab function has generated. Might be wise to reconsider the removal.

I suspect Google's response to our request for it's return will determine whether I start looking for a different way to handle my email. I'd very much prefer not to. I have been very happy with Gmail up unitl now.

I agree. The new features are completely useless since I now have to hide all labels to make the interface usable.  On the right-side, I keep them all visible.

PLEASE bring back the right side labels!

I have to scroll forever to get to my chats. I dont want chat on right side.... my conversation box's cover up who is online....

For Firefox users, check this out at http://userstyles.org/styles/19195 Reconfigured left side bar and moved labels to right side. Coded on 1024 x 768 resolution screen but put width changes in percentages in hopes it will show properly on various other screen resolutions. Tested on FF3.5 Will update as changes occur. Post and leave screen resolution and/or link to screenshot if having issues.

Well, it's been more than 3 days I think and it looks like Google doesn't care at all about what their users think. Not even lousy reply stating that maybe they'll consider it. To hell with all of this, I'm switching back to Outlook.

I hate this change and it's affecting the people who use gmail the most. I hope they aren't saving the right side for more advertising space. I want to be able to put other stuff over there and balance out my page. I really hope they realize the mistake and make changes to fix it soon.

Even if I don't use right side labels, I don't like this new labels feature !!! I want to be able to move my labels down !!!
