JobsThis position is based in Washington, D.C.
It's our team's job to inform and educate elected officials, regulators, and other policy makers about our approach to the big public policy issues of day. Technology moves fast, so it's important we spend time working with the people creating laws and rules to help them understand the issues we care about and that affect our users. Google touches a lot of public policy debates, so we are looking for quick-witted, entrepreneurial, and intellectually curious people to join the team. To succeed here you'll need to be able to combine creativity with the organizational skills to manage numerous different projects to tight deadlines all at once, as well as enjoy working with a wide range of policy makers. It's never quiet, never boring, and things can happen pretty quickly – so you'll need to be a proactive self-starter who also is an enthusiastic team player. We have a healthy appetite for risk, so you'll always be ready to try new ways of doing things.
As the Administrative Assistant to Google's Public Policy and Government Relations team, you will perform a range of vital administrative tasks that keep our business operations and activities organized, on track, and moving forward. Your responsibilities will include managing calendars and coordinating executives' travel schedules, interacting with public officials, government staffers, and industry leaders, tracking team action items and ensuring their completion, overseeing billing and contracts with outside entities, providing leadership in office management, and preparing and tracking expense reports.
You have direct experience supporting high-level executives and interacting with public officials, as well as familiarity with Capitol Hill and the U.S. government agencies. Exceptional communications skills, the ability to handle highly-sensitive and non-routine information, and the capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential. Previous work in a legal and/or government affairs environment is a plus.
