Due to orkut.com's popularity and open nature, we realize that some users may receive unwanted messages. You can prevent another user from sending you scraps, messages, invitations, friend requests, and testimonials by adding that user to your ignore list. To do so, simply visit that user's profile and click ignore user under their profile picture.
Every user's ignore list is private, so other users won't know who's on your ignore list. If someone is unable to send you messages, you'll need to remove them from your ignore list.
You can also restrict who's allowed to write in your scrapbook, comment on your photos, and see your album, scrapbook, videos, testimonials, feeds, and full profile. You'll just need to click the settings button below your profile picture, select the privacy tab, and use the drop-down menu next to the feature you wish to restrict, to choose who's allowed to send you scraps or see your album, videos, testimonials, feeds, and full profile.
In addition to preventing other users from sending you unwanted messages or writing you scraps, you can restrict access to many parts of your profile. To do so, click edit next to the profile link, under your photo. You can set viewing permissions for all the fields that display a drop-down menu and a key icon. For example, if you want everyone to be able to see your birth date, choose the date from the 'birth day' drop-down menu, select everyone from the key drop-down menu to the right, and click update.
If you find someone using orkut.com for commercial purposes (for example, sending unwanted commercial messages), please let us know by clicking report abuse on their profile. Learn more about reporting abuse on orkut
