the rundown

Movi.Kanti.Revo comes from the Esperanto words for Moving, Singing and Dreaming. It is indeed by gesturing and making sounds that users navigate a beautifully surreal world, follow a mysterious character in her adventure, enjoy surprising Cirque du Soleil performances and live an emotional journey made of love, doubts, hope and dreams. With Movi.Kanti.Revo we re-imagined Cirque du Soleil for the digital world making it accessible to millions of users worldwide. We also tested the web as a creative canvas using some of Chrome's latest technologies like WebRTC.

The Building Blocks

The environment is built entirely with markup & CSS. To create movement, CSS animations and 3D transforms were applied making the elements appear closer & further away. The experiment uses HTML5 to play music and sounds. Users navigate through an interactive Cirque du Soleil world with their gestures. To accomplish this, the experiment uses the new getUserMedia API. With this API, the experiment renders the camera output to a small element on the page. A facial detection JavaScript library then looks for movement and appies a CSS 3D transform.
