the rundown
The goal was to educate users on the wide range of features of Google Maps, in a fun and engaging way. Rather than having users reading a long feature list, they could play their way through it.
The Building Blocks
New technology was what made this project possible. The whole experience is
built using the latest features of the Chrome browser, such as WebGL,
WebAudio and the fast Javascript engine. We used the WebGL standard to
create the whole visual style, using GSLS shaders we were able to mimic
what Google has done with their MapsGL engine. It was a great experience
creating an experience that uses the latest in cutting edge of browser
technology.
