Stella Artois was first brewed as a holiday gift for the people of Leuven, Belgium. To celebrate their seasonal heritage, Stella Artois created a special treat for their fans around the world - a unique, personalised Christmas greeting from Christmas Carole - the actress Alice Eve. Fans could send a holiday message via the brand's Facebook page and website just by entering their friend's name and address. From there, Christmas Carole did the rest, arriving virtually at their front door for a special musical performance.

The Building Blocks

The interactive holiday greeting showed Christmas Carole on a journey to perform a festive song at your friend's home. The experience used a combination of Google Street View, Google Maps and satellite imagery, Google Places, and Google's Directions and Geocoding APIs to build the custom, personalised film. Video was composited in real time, and to ensure the Google assets blended seamlessly with the film, every image was dynamically colour graded, alongside motion-tracked user data and Street View images with composited snow and additional effects.

The Results

There were over 230,000 visits to the application from 147 countries with over 1,000,000 page views. Over 111,000 personalized videos were created and in excess of 350,000 new Facebook fans acquired for Stella Artois during the campaign.
