These charts will give you an idea of how Roman characters are matched up
with Devanāgarī characters in the Edit mode of our
transliteration feature. If you find the character you want in the top row, the
corresponding bottom row will give you the alternate letters you need to type to get it.
Notes
- There are multiple ways to type many of the characters, indicated by different letters separated by slashes ("/").
- This is a static mapping that applies only in Edit mode. When you are simply typing as usual, a more dynamic, complex algorithm is used to determine the correct characters to use, based on the sound of each overall word.
