I was able to stay three nights here for the same price as one night at a "nicer" hotel.

The staff were friendly and always happy to help. What others may have interpreted as rudeness came across to me as efficiency. They were incredibly busy, but were available to help me, like when I needed my key cards re-coded.

While the hallways were smokey, my room itself was completely free of smoke, and my smoke detector was fully functional throughout the weekend. At no point did I feel unsafe.

If you need a higher-end room, please pay for a higher-end room at another hotel. This one is basically a motel, with prices to match. Set your expectations accordingly!

      Microtel

While there is an attempt to appoint the rooms in somewhat decent terms, I found it to be clammy as well as cold. There seems to be a moisture problem within the whole hotel as the base walls are beginning to crumble from moisture. Also, the ceiling caulking is beginning to fall in, and there is moisture stains around the floorboards and doors leading me to believe there may have been a flood there at one time. The rooms carry that dank odor.

And when we turn on the heater it smells like it hasn't been turned on for sometime. This room was booked for us, but if there was a choice between one and 10 it would definitely be 11.

The staff was nice enough as I had to re-key my key five times for two different rooms. Shouldn't have to have somebody in the room to get into the room.

If you can afford it, avoid it. Wyndham can certainly should do much better. Well, that's it. Not sure if I should avail myself of the breakfast in the morning, so far it doesn't look promising.

      Update:
I have attempted to check out, but realized that I would not be refunded at the hotel. The Sunday morning clerk actually listened to my complaint and arranged for me to have a room on the second floor, which was far better than the first floor but about the same quality.

I never stay at a motel 6 but if I had a choice, Motel 6 would be it!! At least they leave the light on for you!

      Microtel in Greensboro. A disaster

If u just need a bed to sleep in for the night and your desperate this is the place. Two queen size beds for 100$ with tax. I was in the area for a funeral and booked this at 7pm. When arriving I felt very unsafe. The ppl at the hotel gave me a vibe they probably had weapons on them or violent. They cursed out the woman at the front desk for asking then die their license plate #. I thought it was odd but it's their policy. The whole building smells like weed. The bathrooms were rusty and hairs were on the floor so I don't trust their cleaning. Thankfully no bed bugs. Breakfast was cold and messy. It was just ghetto I was very happy to leave. Next time I'll sleep in my car.

#1 No one knows how to make a bed up...sheets doesn't go on top of the bed spread. Bottom sheet, then second sheet, and last the bedspread. This place puts the last sheet on top of the spread! #2 Handicap parking is 6 space away from the door and this weekend they had a large fishing boat in the second spot from the door the door with drop cords running from the building causing tripping hazards for guests and especially handicap guests.
#3 No towel racks to hang anything wet on including the towels. #4 Room carpet was no clean. #4 Breakfast was NOT as implied. When am need to get control of these hotels! not good!

Recently renovated but poorly cleaned. I thought the room looked great/updated/modern until I was about to climb in bed. After pulling the sheets back there was a giant black hair! You can also see the nightstand wasn't cleaned either. Very disgusting. I had a tight timeline, so I sucked it up by just sleeping on top of the covers. Ugh. So frustrating, especially after another nearby Wyndham property cancelled my reservation at midnight as I was just pulling on to the property. I'm basically over anything Wyndham. Good thing this was only for one night - I guess.. ?!

The AC didn't work at all either, it kept running and running but wasn't cooling at all.

If you're desperate for a place to sleep for a few hours, give it a whirl. Otherwise, keep searching!

Hair under the covers on the "fresh" sheets.
Hard to see.. dirty night stands.

I wish I could give this less than one star. We have stayed at other Wyndham properties and been very pleased. We checked in to the Microtel Inn yesterday evening after traveling from Georgia. From the beginning it was a disaster. Once we got to the room, we discovered the phone was broken, the light between the beds didn't work, there was no remote for the TV, the door did not shut automatically, the bed was behind garbage quality, and about 4 AM the toilet overflowed and we had to change rooms. The second room was not a lot better. The showerhead wouldn't stay positioned up, the showerhead also sprayed from the connection all over, there was no Brewer basket in the coffee maker, and there was no Internet connection. We will never stay at another Wyndham property and would not recommend it to anyone.

If you are thinking of staying at the Microtel inn in Greensboro North Carolina, please stay somewhere else.

I booked through Booking.com and there was no age requirement to stay here listed on their policy and I have stayed before and it was never an issue until I stayed on Saturday (1/2/2022). The woman working the front desk was very rude and did not try to help at all in getting the reservation sorted out. I called Booking.com and they helped me get everything together and I went back in to check in as I was told and the girl working the front desk continued to be rude to us. I was respectful to her the entire time, but it was extremely frustrating and took over an hour to get checked in. After arriving in the room, we noticed that there was no smoke detector on the ceiling and looked as if it had been removed. The smoke detector/fire alarm on the wall was covered and there was water damage on the walls as well - meaning there's a strong possibility of mold. (photos attached of all) I was very unsatisfied with our stay. This was my 4th time staying here so I wasn't expecting it to be a Hilton or 5 star resort, but customer service is huge to me and I was very disappointed and the room just felt unsafe.

Water Damage on Wall and Fire Alarm/Smoke Detector Covered.

      Updated review

Not bad for the money........... Checked in on Monday evening, 7/25/2016, around 5:00 pm.... The hotel is slightly worn, but the staff are professional, polite, friendly, and courteous. The hall carpets are definitely showing use or age and the luggage carts work, but are also worn.

My only couple of complaints are about the checking process and the accessible entrance ramp. Being required to pay for your entire stay, and I was staying all week, at check-in, even before you even get a chance to see the room, is a serious draw back. It is the one thing, that its slightly higher end sister hotel, The Wingate, doesn't do, that would make me second think reserving a room there rather than a Microtel. The second thing is the access ramp at this hotel. The ramp is difficult to find, positioned in the front to the left of the front door, but it is in front of a handicapped park, and extremely small and raised almost as high as the curb.

I reserved a 2 queen handicapped accessible non-smoking room, and as much as I love solitude and quiet, this handicapped room was positioned as far as you could go away from the front door in the hotel on the first floor. I thought that to be odd for a handicapped accessible room. The room was tidy, clean, comfortably temperatures, and smelled good. The shower for a handicapped room was large and nice, but I thought oddly positioned to the immediate left if the front door of the room. Particularly odd as the shower is shallowly drained, so when showering, water runs both towards the front door and dampens the carpet and back towards the toilet. The only other thing is the appearance of cigarette brings on the bed sash and sitting bench pillow. I found that rather odd as this is a non smoking room.

As I am in my second day of a 5 day 4 night stay, I did not get a chance to experience their continental breakfast, but I did see that coffee was available late into the evening. A serious plus for me.

Over all.... My experience here, thus far, has been positive. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The other pluses are the number of electric sockets available in the room... Just in the bed area, there were 4. Wonderful! The staff are professional and helpful, and eventhough I had to pay before my stay was over, the price was reasonable with special promotions deals.... It would not have been as reasonable without the promotion. If my experience continues to be as pleasant, I would refer this hotel to other people, but would warn them of the prepay restriction and promotional deals.

My suggestion to the chain would be to change the continental breakfast to a hot breakfast, fix the accessible ramp, move your handicapped accessible rooms closer to the front door, change that prepay policy, and move and make those handicapped showers position and drain so that they don't wet the floor or carpet and aren't the first thing you see when you open the room door.

Other than that...... Excellent job Microtel Inns and Suites 4304 Big Tree Way Greensboro, NC!!!!!!!

Ok, the 4th of 5 days staying here....I walk I to the room that aftwrnoon, and it has been half cleaned. The beds are missing the sash that it had on the first day, and this morning when I left, and the beds were sloppily made. The floor hadn't even vaccumed, and the foaming hand washing soap I left in the sink had a hair hanging from it. My pillows had been moved over to the window ledge and the bed sashes, instead of being in the beds were balled up next to my pillows in the window ledge.... Also, there was a film on the toilet seat that showed that they had uses a wet apparatus to wipe it, but did not rinse it or wipe the wetness off... Really sloppy method of cleaning.... also a bit unsanitary. Housekeeping needs to tighten up!!!!

Ok ..... The 5th of 5 days...... I wake up to the shower head being broken off the shower wall and the sound of someone constantly twisting a door knob, sounding like they are trying to open my door..... I think, because I am in the room right beside the stair door, that it was people going out the door..... I checked out using the late check out policy....and left with some ice cold lemon water they now provide for guests all day....So.......overall.....
      My stay was ok

Not bad for the price. Walls are a bit thin, noise level high. Slow drain in the shower and ac sounds like it's about to die. Good central location.

I recommend if you are ONLY going to be in the room to shower and sleep.

The shower is passable, though the bathroom walls did have strange yellow stains and the wallpaper is peeling. The mattress is fine. (Though the sheets are scratchy).

The lighting, however, is a long fluorescent bulb you'd have in an office building, directly over the bed where you lay your head.

It's migraine inducing. If you can avoid turning this on at all costs, I recommend trying.

There's no business center or any real space to go outside of your room once inside. And mirrors everywhere in the room. Getting work done at the tiny desk is difficult since it's very small and almost directly up to a giant mirror. No where to escape. Service is very slow at the desk, and when asking for something, you will feel as though you are imposing, because - you are.

And there are no other alternatives for light in the room, so it's that painful fluorescent bulb or illuminate your room with the TV.

Waffle House, Jakes Diner, and CVS are in walking distance (Waffle House is next door).
