The New Staton Service Plaza is like an owl; but the owl is missing an eye and one of its wings (Hershey's Ice Cream and Quiznos were both closed one fine weekday afternoon - they may be closed permanently by the looks of things)

      Quick facts:

      - Bathroom adequately clean
      - Starbucks service was slow but cheery
      - Good natural light

"It was the best of service plazas and it was the worst of service plazas." Well, actually not the best of service plazas...but not disgusting.

Thank goodness for rest stops. When you're on a long road trip, it's so convenient to be able to grab gas, hit up the restroom, and get a bite to eat.. And I mean more than a bag of chips or a candy bar. This stop has massaging chairs, a Starbucks, and three fast food options. Being a vegetarian, Burger King is my go-to because they have a veggie burger and I was happy to see they had one inside. You'll also find a Starbucks, Quiznos, and an ice cream shop along with the 7-11.

The space itself is outdated and not the cleanest but it does the trick. They also had tourism information if you happen to be staying in the area or along the highway. It's not much, but it's just enough when you're on the road.

Just stopped in to pick up some coffee, water and Visine---Driving many miles certainly dries those eyeballs---700 miles yesterday (10-11hrs) and heading back for the return trip today. This service station was the last one before leaving PA. Loved the PA turnpike and all the mountain tunnels. There is a Burger King here and a Starbucks which was closed. I also purchased gas at the Sunoco station next door.

The bathrooms are disgusting. The wastebaskets are overflowing. There's fluids and gunk on the toilet seats. Flies around the toilet seats. Everything (Starbucks, Burger King, Hershey's & Quiznos) except for 7 Eleven is closed. I wouldn't spend too much time here and maybe come only if you have to.

I stopped here on my recent road trip from Valley Forge, PA to Columbus, OH. Due to our current COVID restrictions not all the eateries were open, but I wasn't here for eating and drinking purposes per se, so it didn't really bother me a bit. This was my last stop on the PA Turnpike before I got off.

Pennsylvania Turnpike (toll road) system has these fairly decent service plazas with restaurants and gas stations strategically placed from one end of the state to the other. I normally don't pump gas on these plazas unless my gas is critically low since they are considerably more expensive, but I find myself making frequent stops as I get older these days. These service plazas are very convenient. However, perhaps due to COVID restrictions, none of the plazas I stopped at on this day were crowded.

Though they are showing some signs of wear and tear, restrooms are fairly clean and facilities are well-maintained for the most part. Over the years, food vendors came and went, but it seems there's Starbucks on each plaza now. It just happened that it wasn't operating at this location on this day.

Thank you Pennsylvania for making my road trips more convenient and pleasant for maintaining these facilities (although I pay good money to travel on your roads, ha)!

Very clean and better than Sidling Hill Plaza that we stopped at earlier the same day. They even had a private rest room for handicap persons to use.
I imagine the reason for only 2 eateries being opened was due to staffing during this pandemic.

      Updated review

Today I stopped by this rest stop on the turnpike. The time was around 11:30 AM, and I felt surprised that businesses that were supposed to be open, such as Quiznos and Hershey's Ice Cream, were not actually open. Nonetheless, a 7-Eleven, Burger King, and Starbucks were open. The entire inside of the building was in good condition, looked nice with the floor tile and paint, and was clean. Some spaced-out tables and chairs were available for people to sit at, but they were not enough for all of the customers. Bathrooms were available, although I did not use them. In addition, a gas station was outside, and they are supposed to have charging stations for electric vehicles. Plenty of parking spaces were available, so I could park right near the building, and I could eat my lunch in my car. A stand had dozens of free brochures for travel ideas to nearby cities.

The bathrooms are unsanitary. The women's bathroom was the worst I have ever seen on the turnpike. I was very disappointed. Some of the stalls didn't have doors, the out of order one was used, there were flies surrounding the toilets, even had vomit on the floor and in the sink. My experience here was very nasty. I even warned others as they were coming in. The lady at the 7-eleven said the Burger King was suppose to be open 24/7 like they were and they were responsible for the bathrooms and that there was no one to work it. They should have the bathrooms closed if there is no one to keep them clean and sanitary.

I came in here this evening and everything but the 7-Eleven was closed at 7:30 at night. That is ridiculous because people need to come in here and they want to eat things other than 7-Eleven food no disrespect to them. I don't care if covid's going on or not it is unprofessional of you guys to close everything down or to have limited hours to 6:00 p.m. . People get hungry after those hours as well and you guys need to open up back to close to regular hours or you guys are going to lose a lot of business and you guys should be ashamed of yourselves for doing what you're doing. You won't be getting any more of my business until you open everything up to close to regular hours. At least 7-Eleven has the decency to be open during regular hours. You guys don't even deserve one star but the only reason why you do is because 7-Eleven is open

I mean, it's a service station so there's not a lot to say lol. I typically use service stations to use the bathroom or get Starbucks. This service station has both, so nothing to complain about there. We stopped here on our way to Ohio from Maryland on 7.13.19 around 9:30 am. The bathrooms were pretty nasty, and that seems to be a common theme at this service station every time I'm here. But aside from that, I have no complaints. Daughter ordered some breakfast from Burger King in the station after using the restroom and the food was done quickly. They have a gas station and a pet walking area. So aside from the dirty bathrooms, this station is fine.
