We have stayed here in the past when it was a KOA but have not been here in a few years. It was disappointing to see that the restaurant is gone as well as the many flavor options for the ice creams you could get. The donkeys are still here and seem to be well taken care of. The grounds seem clean but there are a lot of gravel sites that are close to each other and it is hard to see the site numbers is certain parts of the park. In part of the park the sites are completely gravel. The shower/bathrooms are clean but there was absolutely no hot water in the women's showers and I am not sure why. It's almost as if the hot water wasn't turned on. It is a convenient location but sad at the changes.

Just as an FYI, here is a write up of our recent weekend at Terre Haute Campground (Kiefer Campground). Heads up for anyone planning to go there...

We booked in January and paid extra to lock our site (if you don't, the campground has the right to move your site as they see fit). We were camping with family and they booked same time and locked as well. It was planned because of a family wedding the weekend we were going to be there.

In August we checked reservations and found our family had their site moved with no notice (even though they paid extra to lock it so it shouldn't have been moved). We called and got our site moved to be next to our family again.

Sept 22nd family arrives, gets set up and verifies our site is still next to theirs. The office confirms it is and that the people in that spot will be gone by the time we arrive the next day.

Sept 23rd we arrived and those people are still in our spot. And to make matters worse the campground still has us showing as reserved in our original spot (even though my confirmation email shows the revised spot). But someone is in that spot too so I'm not sure how they show two people reserved for the same site.

So I ask what they plan to do and they searched and found they only had one spot left and it was not next to our family like we had wanted. I was not happy, but I stayed calm because it isn't the workers fault. However, the lady in the office was not at all remorseful and didn't really even apologize. She chalked it up to the new reservation system they have. I requested that something be done to make this right and she told me she would talk to management.

On Sept 25th I go back to the office to see what management said. Management was not responsive. They refunded the $20 lock fee, but I requested additional compensation given the absolute disaster of the situation, the fact we reserved in January AND paid extra money to get sited locked to NOT be moved.

I called today to speak to a manager and they wouldn't forward my call to them. They only took a message, so they are giving me the total runaround.

Overall not impressed with the way this was all handled. We will not be back to this campground.

Please be warned if every coming to an assignment in Terre Haute Indiana do not stay at Keifer Campground AKA-KOA, AKA-Terre Haute Campground was there from 8/2020 till 6/2021 multiple problems with management not taking care of other noisy campers, unsafe grounds, no onsite management or way to contact anyone. Was told if I need something to use Facebook Messenger. Lighting struck pole an fried it. Tried calling someone for help because I was out of town that weekend. No one to contact. Absolutely NO power to my rig. Lost everything in fridge an freezer. Finally talked to personal at campground said they would fix the problem or move us. No problem. Talked to the electrician fixing the pole that afternoon an he said "told owner that they have needed updated for sometime"
Manager calls me an say they will refund me money for my loss an that because I've complained so much I could leave the campground 7/1/21 said I'd blast them all over social media an anywhere else I could she said I could leave that night. Also all of the sudden after 2 weeks of asking about any bill owed prior was told "nothing owed" all of the sudden I owed for electricity for 2 months.
Attempted to call owner 2xs an he would never return my call.
We are so lucky our rig didn't burn down or anything else major happen!
Fortunately I knew a guy who owns a private campground still close to the hospital, much quieter an 1/2 the cost. Much quieter an well taken care of. Come October we are out of Terre Haute.

This place is adorable. Quiet and clean. It is a distance out of town, and there are no services or stores near by. Used to be a KOA and is a bit older. Not at all posh, but very nice. Good trees and lots for the kids. The dirt pedal racer track is great. Never have seen anything quite like it. Because it used to be a KOA, there is a variety of grades of sites. Some are gravel with little or no shade. Some are premium with concrete pad sites, patio tables, grills, fire pits, and swings or gliders. The concrete sites are very level, the gravel sites are less so. Ask for what's available and you should end up with what you want. I gave four stars instead of five only because it's a little dated. We'll definitely be back.

This is like the Ritz Carlton experience. The service makes you feel like you are at the Ritz Carlton of all the KOA.
      Brenda was great! Thank you!!!

Where do I begin? All five star reviews on yelp and trip advise have nothing to do with coming into contact with the owner, Keith. All one star reviews have everything to do with the owner. He is the rudest person I've ever come into contact with. Accused my party of smoking in the cabin. I quit over 6 years ago. We left two days early and were assured that we would receive a refund. Imagine my surprise when we were then told sorry, that's not our cancellation policy.
Would never ever give that campground another cent, seeing that they already have an additional 250.00. It doesn't matter the reason we decided to cancel.

Showers had mold, the bathroom smelled horrible. Pool didn't look that clean. This land floods terribly also. Cabin for that area is way way overpriced.

Nice campground in Terre Haute... Robin at the office was great. Super rainy during our stay so we weren't able to enjoy the amenities... But they do have donkeys that you can feed for 25cents per cup. Bathrooms could use some work... The showers are very cramped and I noticed the water from all 3 shower stalls mixed together at your feet (so wear shower shoes).
Laundry room is clean and the washers and dryers work well.

Extremely nice campground. Check in was a breeze and we had a delightful patio site complete with furniture and fire pit. Personnel were all very friendly. Campground is nice and clean.

Very nice KOA. Only stayed one nite due to travels but would come back for a longer stay. Well maintained and very friendly staff. On site cafe was convenient and good was good. All in all would recommend this KOA for over its or longer stay.
