There’s no forgetting Jennifer Lopez’s iconic green Versace dress at the 2000 GRAMMYs, and now, we’re getting the perspective from her date that evening, former boyfriend Diddy. He recently reminisced about the look that he claims he knew would be a game-changer. “I thought it was gonna really change the game as far as for her and fashion,” he said to Entertainment Tonight while promoting the documentary Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story. “I didn’t know how big it was gonna be, but it was a great moment for her.”

Although the rapper didn’t expect the dress to gain fame the way it did, the former couple did aim to evolve their style that night for that red carpet. “We were just stepping up our game as far as what we were wearing and how we were gonna use fashion,” he recalled. The infamous dress even inspired the creation of Google Image Search due to the amount of searches for it. And the hip-hop mogul, who placed No. 1 on Forbes’ 2017 list of highest-paid celebrities, is happy that Lopez caught the world’s attention that day adding, “She deserved it. She is one of the fliest out there.”
