The Calhoun County Tea Party will discuss this week proposed legislation that would allow Michigan residents to carry a concealed pistol without a permit.

Tony DeMott, president of lobbying group Michigan Campaign for Liberty, will speak at the group's monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kool Family Community Center. Freedom Firearms owner Joel Fulton and state representatives John Bizon and Jim Runestad also will speak.

Michigan lawmakers proposed bills earlier this year.

The Tea Party's meeting is free and open to the public.
