Cmdr. Andrew Domina
Commanding Officer, USS Springfield
CDR Andy Domina was born in 1981 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from NC State University with a degree in Computer Science in 2003 and was commissioned in September 2003. He also holds a master's degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University. He earned his Submarine Warfare Insignia on July 2nd, 2006.
His initial shipboard assignment was onboard USS LA JOLLA (SSN 701) where he completed two western pacific deployments. During his tour, the crew was awarded two Battle Efficiency "E" awards. CDR Domina later served as the Navigation/Operations Officer onboard the USS GREENEVILLE (SSN 772) and completed one additional western pacific deployment. During his tour, the crew earned one Battle Efficiency "E" Award. CDR Domina then served as Executive Officer on USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN 736), conducting three strategic deterrent patrols. During his tour the crew earned the Battle Efficiency "E" award and the Arleigh Burke Fleet Award.
His shore tours include duty at Commander Submarine Pacific Headquarters where he served as a post-division officer in the N3 office as a submarine watch officer as well as a post-XO tour where he served in the N9 office as a Deputy Director of CTG 114.3. He has also served on the staff of Commander Naval Personnel Command where he was the department head sea detailer assigned to PERS-42. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
