She was the daughter of John Joseph Kells Fleetwood, an officer in the Royal AirForce, and wife, Bridget Maureen (Brereton) Fleetwood; educated at 16 different schools, including in Egypt and Norway, and at the Convent of the Nativity in Kent, England when her family finally resettled in England. She died after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
