FOX23 first reported in March last year that the killers of the animals haven’t been found so the man who owned the donkeys, who says they were like family to him, is now offering more money to find out what happened.

Dave Willhite spoke to FOX23 wearing a shirt that read “Justice for Pete and Patsy”

"I had them buried together and so since then we’ve just been waiting and hoping," said Willhite. "Somebody knows whoever was responsible for this."

Willhite says he found them shot dead in March last year on a 10-acre pasture in Mounds that he kept them on and visited regularly.

"They did not deserve that. I know they’re out there, but how someone can just kill innocent animals for the fun of it, is just beyond me. I can’t comprehend it," said Willhite.

He says he’s had Pete and Patsy for 21 years and their pictures are placed in his house alongside family photos.

Initially he offered a $20,000 reward to find who killed them. nine months later, he’s still trying to track down the killer.

"I’d just like for somebody to do the right thing," said Willhite.

Nine months later, he’s still trying to track down the killer as he raised the reward money to $40,000.

"Maybe it’ll just wake somebody up if $20,000 didn’t get your attention, maybe 40 will. That’s just it, that’s lot of money and who’d have thought I’d ever be offering a $40,000 reward, but they were awful good friends. I owe it to them, they didn’t deserve that," said Willhite.

He says he’ll keep fighting for Pete and Patsy.

"Justice for them, but to keep this person from doing it again, there may be other Pete’s and pasty’s out there. On a whim, go kill them, I don’t understand how anybody can be that cruel," said Willhite. "They were special, they still are, always will be and they’re neat, they were my friends and I miss them."
