Located in northeastern Utah a four season district with mountainous terrain and abundant lakes is your place to be. Hike, camp, fish, ride mountain bikes, backpack and ride off-highway vehicles in the summer. Popular during the winter for the quality snow drawing legions of back country skiers, dog sledders and snowmobilers. Over 25 campgrounds make up Heber-Kamas District. It the largest district at Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. From high elevations to low lake views, this district is the perfect spot for your next adventure. Don’t miss the famous Mirror Lake Scenic Byway or Currant Creek Reservoir!

 
 

Aspen Grove Campground

Aspen Grove Campground is located near Soldier Creek Dam above the Soldier Creek section of the beautiful Strawberry Reservoir. Visitors flock to Strawberry for its excellent fishing, boating, and trail opportunities. The campground offers several single and double-family sites. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided.

Coal mine Hollow trailhead

Coal Mine Hollow Trailhead is near the Currant Creek Reservoir and provides access to the backcountry. There is plenty of parking for horse trailers. Hitching racks are on-site and a vault restroom is available.

Cobblerest Campground

Cobblerest Campground is located on the Mirror Lake Highway. This is a paved campground with 18 single campsites. Each with picnic tables and fire rings. Vault restroom facilities are available in the campground. The campground is shaded and has many hiking opportunities nearby. The Provo River runs by the campground.

Currant Creek campground

Currant Creek Campground sits next to Currant Creek Reservoir at an elevation of 8,000 feet. A wide variety of recreational activities awaits, including boating, fishing, and hiking. This large campground provides group, equestrian, and single and double-family sites. A day-use area is on the lakeshore and offers an accessible fishing dock and fish cleaning station. Campsites contain picnic tables, campfire rings, grills, and cement site pads. Flush toilets, and drinking water are provided. Currant Creek Campground also provides dump station for an extra fee. A small camp store is located at the campground entrance, with camping and fishing supplies, gifts and apparel, firewood, ice, and a basic variety of grocery items and snacks.

Currant Creek Boat Ramp offers access to the reservoir. There is plenty of parking at the boat ramp and a vault restroom is available at the site.
Currant Creek Dam Fishing Site is a parking area that provides access to the reservoir at the dam site.

Ledgefork campground

Ledgefork Campground is located just above Smith and Morehouse Reservoir on the western edge of the Uinta Mountains in northeastern Utah. The town of Oakley is just 14 miles away. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing, and exploring the Smith and Morehouse Trail. The campground contains several single and double sites with picnic tables and campfire rings. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Lilly Lake campground

Lilly Lake Campground is a paved campground with 13 single campsites. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Vault Toilet restrooms are available. The campground is situated near 3 lakes (Lilly Lake, Lost Lake, and Teapot Lake). Hiking, Fishing, and canoeing opportunities are available in the area.

Lodgepole campground

Lodgepole Campground is located in scenic Daniels Canyon just a short drive from Heber City, Utah, and Strawberry Reservoir at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Campers enjoy fishing and hiking in the canyon and day-tripping to Strawberry Reservoir. The campground offers flush toilets and drinking water, as well as group picnic shelters. The campground is situated in a beautiful mountain setting along Daniels Creek. A forest of pine, fir, and aspen covers the area, and willows line the creek bank. Summer wildflowers dot the landscape. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Lodgepole Dump Station is available for an extra fee. Season Dump Station Pass is available for purchase.

Lost Creek campground

Lost Creek Campground is a paved campground with 35 single campsites. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Vault Toilet restroom facilities are available. The campground is situated near its namesake lake. Hiking, fishing, and canoeing opportunities are available. ATVs are prohibited in the area. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Lower Provo River campground

Lower Provo River Campground is located close to the Provo River. The campground has 10 single campsites, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault restrooms facilities are available. Recreation opportunities are available nearby. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Mill Hollow campground

Mill Hollow Campground is located in the Uinta National Forest next to Mill Hollow Reservoir at an elevation of 8,800 feet. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing, and hiking. The campground offers several family campsites, some of which are designated for tents only. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. A short trail leads up the hill from the campground to the reservoir. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Mirror Lake campground

Mirror Lake Campground is located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway on the shores of its beautiful namesake lake at an elevation of 10,000 feet. The byway cuts through the Uinta Mountains, which are known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. The campground contains several single and double campsites, some of which are accessible, all with picnic and utility tables, tent pads, and campfire rings with grills. Equestrian sites are available on a separate loop. Many sites have partial lake views. A day-use picnic area and small boat ramp are located on the lakeshore. Vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are dirt.

Moosehorn campground

Moosehorn Campground is located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway on the shores of Moosehorn Lake at an elevation of 10,400 feet. The byway cuts through the Uinta Mountains, which are known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. The campground contains several single-family sites, all with picnic tables and campfire rings with grills. Some sites have nice lake views. Vault toilets and trash collection are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are dirt. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Pine Valley Group campground

Pine Valley North Group Campground is located on the beautiful Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah. The Uintas are known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. The campground contains three group sites with picnic and serving tables, grills, campfire circles, and large paved parking areas. Vault toilets are provided.

Ponderosa Group campground

Ponderosa Group Campground is located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway at an elevation of 7,400 feet. The byway is part of the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah, which are known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. Ponderosa contains one group site that can accommodate up to 100 people. It is equipped with large picnic tables and campfire circles. Smaller tables are scattered around the edges of the site. Vault toilets are provided but campers must bring their own water and garbage bags. Access is via a short but steep, rough dirt road. Campers will find plenty of room for tents and smaller RVs or trailers.

Renegade campground

Renegade Campground is located on the shore of the beautiful Strawberry Reservoir at an elevation of 7,700 feet. Visitors flock to Strawberry for its great fishing, boating, and trail opportunities. The campground offers several single and double-family campsites. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided but there is no electricity or cell phone service. Long-term sites are also available. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Renegade Boat Ramp offers access to the reservoir. There is plenty of parking at the boat ramp and flush restrooms and fish cleaning stations are available.

A dump station is available at the nearby Strawberry Bay Campground.

Shady Dell campground

Shady Dell Campground is located on the Mirror Lake Highway. The campground is nestled in the curves of the Provo River. This campground has 20 single campsites. Each site offers a picnic table and a fire ring. Vault restroom facilities are available throughout the campground. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Shingle Creek campground

Shingle Creek Campground is a nice well-shaded campground. This campground has 21 single campsites with fire rings and picnic tables available at each site. There are vault toilets located throughout the campground. This campground is open to ATV’s and two ATV trails begin in this campground.

Smith-Morehouse campground

Smith and Morehouse Campground is located a very short distance from Smith and Morehouse Reservoir on the western edge of the Uinta Mountains in northeastern Utah. The town of Oakley, Utah, is just 12 miles away. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing, and exploring the Smith and Morehouse Trail. The campground offers numerous family sites, most of which are accessible. Picnic tables and campfire rings are provided, as are vault toilets and drinking water. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Soapstone campground

Soapstone Campground is located on the beautiful Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah at an elevation of 8,200 feet. The campground contains several single-family sites, two double sites, and one triple site, all with picnic tables and campfire rings. Vault toilets are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are paved.

Soldier Creek campground

Soldier Creek Campground is located on the shore of the beautiful Strawberry Reservoir at an elevation of 7,200 feet. This large, popular campground contains a group overnight pavilion site that can accommodate up to 100 people. Over 150 single and double-family campsites are also available. Camping spurs are spaced 50-75 feet apart. Loop A has nice shade from pines and aspens; some sites on this loop have covered picnic tables. Loops B, C, and D are nearest the reservoir but have no shade; picnic tables are covered and most have privacy/windscreens. Long-term sites are also available. This campground offers flush restroom facilities. Visitors flock to Strawberry for its great fishing, boating, and trail opportunities. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Soldier Creek Boat Ramp offers access to the reservoir. There is plenty of parking at the boat ramp and flush restrooms and fish cleaning stations are available.

Strawberry Bay campground

Strawberry Bay Campground is located on the shore of the beautiful Strawberry Reservoir at an elevation of 7,200 feet. Visitors flock to Strawberry for its great fishing, boating, and trail opportunities. This large campground contains a variety of campsites to accommodate all types of visitors, including group, family, and single campsites. A pavilion is also available for overnight and day use. Sites at Loop B have full RV hookups. Long-term sites are available at Loop D. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided. Most sites are equipped with either wind shelters and/or covered picnic shelters, tables, grills, and campfire rings.

Strawberry Bay Boat Ramp offers access to the reservoir. There is plenty of parking at the boat ramp and flush restrooms and fish cleaning stations are available.

Trial Lake campground

Trial Lake Campground is located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway on the shores of Trial Lake at an elevation of 9,500 feet. The byway cuts through the Uinta Mountains, which are known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. This campground contains several single-family sites and one double site, all with picnic tables and campfire rings. Some sites have tent pads. The lake is visible from most sites. Vault toilets are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are paved.

Washington Lake campground

Washington Lake Campground is located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway on the shores of Washington Lake at an elevation of 10,000 feet. The byway cuts through the Uinta Mountains, which are known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. This campground contains five group sites, four of which accommodate up to 50 people each; the fifth accommodates up to 100 people. Sites are equipped with picnic and serving tables, campfire circles, grills, concrete site pads, limited tent pads, and limited parking. Several single and double-family sites are available, all with picnic and utility tables, campfire rings, and concrete site pads. Some have tent pads. The lake is not visible from the group sites, but most single and double sites have nice lake views. Vault toilets are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are paved.

Wolf Creek group campground

Wolf Creek Campground is located on the summit of scenic Wolf Creek Highway at an elevation of 9,400 feet. Visitors enjoy hiking Trail Hollow with its beautiful mountain views. This campground offers two group sites. Site 1 can accommodate up to 60 people; Site 2 can accommodate up to 30 people and 12 individual sites. Vault restroom facilities are available at this site. An amphitheater sits above Site 1 has a cement stage, wood benches, and a campfire circle.

Yellow Pine campground

Yellow Pine Campground is located on the Mirror Lake Highway and offers 33 single campsites. The campsites have picnic tables and fire rings available for use and vault toilet restroom facilities are located throughout the campground. The campground is shaded and is near many recreation opportunities.
