Barbra Streisand will be honored with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at The Hollywood Reporter‘s 2015 Women in Entertainment breakfast taking place on Dec. 9 at Milk Studios in Los Angeles.
The star-studded event coincides with the publication of THR‘s annual Women in Entertainment Power 100 list.
“Hearing that Barbra had agreed to accept the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award was both humbling and exhilarating. Barbra’s remarkable professional achievements and philanthropic generosity have greatly inspired me and hundreds of millions of people worldwide,” said Sherry Lansing, former CEO of Paramount Pictures and the first woman to head a major Hollywood studio, in a statement. “The Hollywood Reporter could not have chosen a more deserving individual to recognize than Barbra.”

The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award recognizes women who serve as pioneers in the world of entertainment. The multi-platinum selling artist, who has won 10 Grammys, two Oscars and AFI’s Lifetime Achievement Award, joins an esteemed list of former recipients including last year’s honoree, Shonda Rhimes, and previous honorees Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton and Jodie Foster. In addition to her prolific music and film career, Streisand, a philanthropist and activist, launched The Streisand Foundation in 1986 to spotlight women’s equality and human rights and has made charitable contributions to help fight women’s heart disease.
“Barbra Streisand perfectly exemplifies the ideals and mission of the Women in Entertainment initiative,” said Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group. “She’s a once-in-a-generation talent who continues to transcend boundaries and pave the way for women in entertainment, philanthropy and politics. It’s an honor to have her carry this torch.”
