The Malaysia delegation during pre-delivery inspection at IVECO production plant of Brescia. The trucks are IVECO Eurocargo 4×4 150E280 whit Tector 7 280hp engine, the Army of Malaysia already operates with several IVECO models.
The Brescia plant is a very important production reality both for Iveco and for the city itself. The plant was the seat of the glorious OM founded as the Roberto Züst Automobile Factory in 1903, which later became OM in 1928 and acquired by Fiat in 1968.
From the initial production of cars (including racing cars), OM moved on to the agricultural sector and then to that of industrial vehicles. In 1975 OM was among the “founding members” who gave life to Iveco and became part of the new company in all respects. This plant, which already produced the OM-branded medium vehicles, was chosen in 1991 to start the production of Eurocargo.
Overall, the production site now has about 2,300 employees and covers a total area of 676 thousand square meters of which about 300 thousand are covered. The integrated factory organization model introduced by the Fiat group has recently been restructured according to the dictates of World Class Manufacturing (WCM): from the management of environmental and safety aspects at work, to maintenance, up to logistics with particular attention to elimination of waste.
Eurocargo is a reliable and versatile vehicle, which has a proven history of successes behind it, since its inception: launched in 1991 as the first vehicle in its class designed and developed by Iveco, Over the years Eurocargo has won numerous international awards, including the prestigious “International Truck of the Year 1992” award.
The vehicle can be defined as the heir of a series of models that have written the history of the medium segment, since the days before the birth of Iveco: from the rounded shapes of the Lupetto of the OM of Brescia, launched in 1959, to the squared and more modern ones. of the Z Range, in 1977, until the introduction of the new turbo engine in 1987, with the TurboZeta range.
