For 2022, 1,499 additional LEA reported #NIBRS to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) while agencies not reporting NIBRS were allowed to submit the predecessor SRS. This is in hopes to better estimate the national level of crime. Plenty to delve into given the richness of the data. Quick notes from the FBI overview: -->Overall, violent crime decreased, with homicide reductions being the most, while property crime increased with MVT leading the way. -->A majority of violent offenses involved a weapon, firearm being the most prevalent. -->Juvenile gun violence victims increased (both fatal and non) -->Clearances, for both types, are about 33% #CrimeAnalysis #CrimeData #Policing

Excellent investigative article here by Real Clear Investigations disputing the anti-police sensationalist lies that police are brutal racists. Among the article's findings: the number of improper, bad shootings is very small; out of some 50-60 million encounters with the public, lethal shootings by police occur some 0.002% of the time; 83% of the persons shot and killed by police in 2023 were armed, usually with a gun; and police are "markedly less likely to shoot at Blacks and Hispanics, than Whites."
