Lower Tahquamenon Falls Hemlock Campground

The Hemlock Campground at Lower Tahquamenon Falls was the first campground that I ever stayed at in the Upper Peninsula, and it met our needs well. We didn’t do much in the campground as it was late November and pretty cold, but it was a great jumping-off point for our travels and allowed us to hike a bit as well. From the campground, we took day trips to Upper Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, and Vermilion Point Nature Preserve before heading further west to camp at Pictured Rocks. We also took a night hike from our campsite to Lower Tahquamenon Falls, which was very unique. We couldn’t see the falls very well, but it was a unique feeling to be so close to them and feel the power that they possessed without really getting a good look at them. We had already seen the upper falls, but I must admit I wish we had seen the lower falls during the day. That is definitely on my list for our next trip! Overall this campground will meet your needs whether you are looking for a campsite to hang out at for a few days or you are just using your campsite as a jumping-off point to see as much of the eastern Upper Peninsula as possible as we were.
