HOLLAND, MI -- Police and fire authorities are on the scene of a crash involving a car and a semi on M-40 near the Tulip City Truck Stop.

The crash was reported about 8:17 a.m. Tuesday, July 8.

Initially, paramedics responded on the highest priority after one person was reportedly pinned in the car, but there are no serious injuries, an Ottawa County Dispatch supervisor later said.

The scene is near where a Hamilton High School teacher died in a crash Dec. 4., 2013.

An online petition netting more than 1,200 signatures called for a stoplight to be installed in front of the truck stop to prevent further traffic issues.

Nick Schirripa, a state Department of Transportation spokesman said a traffic light was not the solution and may cause further trouble itself. But "we're looking at possible solutions," he said.
