Filenames
You can upload several types of video files through the Uploader: .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .ra, .ram, .mov, .wmv, .asf, .mod, .mp3.
Files that you upload must be uniquely named in your account. If you upload a file with the same filename as a file you previously uploaded, your old file will be overwritten.
Uploading Files
Below are detailed steps for uploading video files using the Uploader. A slimmed-down version is also available through your Upload Video page.
- To access the Google Uploader, Select Start → All Programs → Google Video → Google Video Uploader. Note: If you installed the Google Video Uploader in a folder other than the default folder, the path to access the tool may be different.
- Click Login, and enter your Google Accounts email address and password.

- Click the Add button to select a video file. Search your hard drive, select the file(s) you want to upload, and click Open. You can add additional files by repeating this step multiple times.

- If you want to remove a file that you just added, select it from the list in your Uploader window, and click Remove. Clicking Clear All removes all the files from the list.

- Check the box at the bottom of the screen to confirm that you have the necessary rights to upload the video
- Click Upload Now when you're ready to upload the files in the list. Click Cancel to stop the files from being uploaded. The Uploader can run in the background while you do other work on your computer.

- After your files have been successfully uploaded, you can close the Uploader window. If you want to add and upload new files, click Clear All. (You can also automatically clear your files from the Options menu.) Then follow the same steps as above. When you close the Uploader, any files that haven't been deleted will remain.
- To check the status of your uploaded files, visit your Video Status page in your account.
Additional Options
The Options button lets you (1) automatically remove files from the Uploader after they've been uploaded and (2) overwrite existing upload files with new ones.
The first option saves you time when you plan to upload files at separate times. Simply click Options, and select the first box to delete files from the Uploader after they've been submitted to Google.
The second option is useful when making updates to files you've previously uploaded. By selecting this option in the Options menu, you can replace a file you've already uploaded to the Google server with a newer version under the same filename.
Back to top Adding Video Information to Complete the Upload
After you upload your files through the Uploader, you'll need to submit your video information to us in order to successfully complete the upload process. Here's how:
- Visit your Video Status page in your account.
- The files you just uploaded should appear on this page. If they don't, check back in a few minutes.
- Click Add beneath the Video Information column to add your information to the video file.
- Complete the form, and click Save Video Information to submit your information.
If everything checks out, we'll mark your video status as Verified on your Video Status page. If we encounter a problem with your submission, we'll list the error.
You can edit your video information and add a transcript to each file at any time by clicking the links on your Video Status page. For information about submitting transcripts, please visit our Transcript Format page. |
