  • 14 years of experience in compliance, controls governance, risk management, auditing or consulting, including in a regulated industry.
  • 10 years of experience in a people management, supervision, or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience organizing data and applying business context to improve processes or operations.
  • Experience in data governance principles and practices, and ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and integrity in reporting activities.
  • Familiarity with corporate governance rules, risk management content or central tracking and monitoring of controls.

The Google Compliance team makes sure that our business is always consistent with the current financial regulations. Comprised of multitaskers, this team balances Google's legal and compliance requirements with the dynamic needs of our users and the values of our company. As part of this team, you proactively identify pain points and gaps in existing policy frameworks and find innovative solutions. You develop efficient compliance systems and work with teams to implement these across the organization. You are thorough in all you do and see to it that as Google pursues our next big idea, we always have our bases covered.

The Risk and Compliance team within Extended Workforce Solutions (xWS) functions as a critical second line of defense, ensuring Google adheres to global laws and regulations regarding its contingent workforce. By identifying risks, designing controls, and conducting audits, the team protects Google’s brand while empowering employees to operate within a compliant framework.

As the Program Manager, you will lead the Risk and Compliance Governance function, taking primary responsibility for the frameworks and processes that define how the program operates and reports.

In this role, you will synthesize complex data into proactive narratives for leadership, ensuring the xWS program remains healthy, data-driven, and aligned with broader corporate standards. By bridging the gap between technical AI innovation and regulatory oversight, you will play a pivotal role in scaling Google’s risk management capabilities.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is CAD 186,000-191,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and mitigate operational, legal, financial, and reputational risks within the contingent workforce to ensure ethical and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and manage policies and lifecycle standards for the extended workforce, aligning them with statutory requirements and internal benchmarks.
  • Lead AI enablement initiatives to scale operations while coordinating AI governance with second-line-of-defense (2LOD) teams for secure implementation.
  • Centralize internal audits and external exams into a single reporting source to track issue remediation and provide data-driven narratives to leadership.
  • Partner with cross-functional Risk, Audit, and Compliance teams to integrate governance principles and validate business mitigation plans.
