AI Search Engineering Analyst, Safety Risk and Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering).
  • 3 years of experience in a data-intensive role such as threat intelligence, data science, trust and safety, or fraud analysis.
  • Experience with SEO, website development, or as a website owner/manager.
  • Experience with or understanding of machine learning systems and concepts.
  • Experience in or familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, Python, or C++.
  • Familiarity with large language models.

The Search Quality Evaluation (SQE) team's mission is to make the world's information more useful by defending the integrity of Google Search. On the SQE team you have an opportunity to make a significant and direct impact on the quality of Google's search results. You improve user search experience by reviewing search results for quality and content. You reach out to our webmaster community, provide user support, create market-specific policies and develop tools to aid our spam-fighting endeavors. You are part of a high performing team that is passionate about keeping Google Search at its best.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of protecting Google Search users from spam and harmful content. You will apply your analytical and technical skills to identify and prevent manipulative behavior, contribute to the development and enforcement of spam guidelines, and partner with engineering teams to enhance search ranking algorithms.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Investigate and analyze complex patterns of abuse on Google Search, utilizing data-driven insights to develop countermeasures and enhance platform security.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that may indicate abuse or quality issues within Google Search.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, Policy, and Legal, to develop and implement robust solutions that enhance search quality and user trust.
  • Translate complex technical analyses into clear, concise, and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Produce actionable intelligence reports on emerging attack vectors, system vulnerabilities, and adversary tactics specifically targeting LLM architectures.
