Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development with a focus on mobile or hardware-adjacent applications.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Experience with the full software-hardware development life-cycle, including shipping software for hardware products.
- Experience in application development for hardware ecosystems (e.g. for Android, Chrome etc).
- Experience in identifying technical improvement areas, contributing directly to a team's roadmap, and proactively managing technical risk.

The YouTube Music Integrations team strives to deliver a seamless, high-quality music experience to users on all their devices, ensuring YouTube Music (YTM) is available everywhere. Our mission is to integrate YTM into the hardware ecosystem, from wearables to automotive platforms, which represent significant growth vectors for our users. To help lead this effort, we are seeking a senior Individual Contributor to guide our technical strategy in the hardware integration space.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical expert and consultant for all Music teams on hardware integration, providing technical guidance and setting strategic direction.
- Identify, predict, and mitigate technical risks associated with the software-hardware development life-cycle before they materialize.
- Drive technical excellence and architectural best practices, with a focus on high performance, memory optimization, and power efficiency for resource-constrained hardware.
- Architect robust solutions for core system integrations, including intermittent network connectivity, and interaction with native platform services (e.g., vehicle data, watch sensors).
- Lead complex design reviews and represent the Music Integrations team in cross-organization working groups, and provide mentorship to junior engineers on best practices for software-hardware integration, system design, and code quality. Develop the teams technical excellence in design, development and launch, and drive adoption of technologies and tools to improve efficiency in hardware-software development.
