Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with cross-functional partners such as UX and product, refining feature ideas into practical engineering tasks and driving progress.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

Join the Identity Verification team as a Software Engineer and help Google anchor digital interactions to real-world identities. We build critical systems that enable major products like Cloud, Play, Google Pay, and Ads to operate globally and combat financial crime.

In this role, you'll contribute to designing and building intelligent, automated identity verification workflows. You'll gain experience integrating our platform with Google products and external vendors, while engineering solutions to meet various international regulations. Working with technical leads, you'll address complex technical challenges at the heart of digital trust and safety. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on Google's ability to operate safely and grow worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Program Managers, and Technical Leads across the payments platform to translate complex requirements into elegant code. 
  • Write and modify code that connects our platform with a various set of clients and Google products.
  • Help adapt and customize our solutions to meet a wide array of local regulatory requirements from countries around the world. Ensure our platform is both globally consistent and locally compliant, often requiring creative problem-solving to map legal requirements to technical implementations.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to identity data processing, rule engine configurations, and secure data handling. Contribute to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our verification processes.
  • Contribute to the reliability and maintainability of our services by writing robust code, developing comprehensive tests, and participating in code reviews, helping to refine our engineering practices.
