Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
- 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
- 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
- 3 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.
- Experience in people management.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience mentoring junior researchers or leading technical security projects.
- Experience managing local and remote engineers, setting and driving team goals.
About the job
Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.
As a Staff Security Engineer on the PAIRS team, you will be instrumental in securing and supporting AI products and agents across the company. In this role, you will be responsible for threat modeling, conducting security assessments for various products, identifying emerging security trends, and collaborating with other security teams and the Secure AI Framework (SAIF) team to enhance overall product security. This role demands a technical foundation and exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills to handle complex security tests (e.g., coding agents, models handling sensitive data, and more!)
Responsibilities
- Steer the direction of projects and the team to enhance the foundational security of Google's AI Products.
- Collaborate with the Secure AI Framework group (e.g., saif.google) as a key partner.
- Conduct security assessments to guide product development.
- Expand AI product security initiatives and automation to reduce risks, enabling engineers to maximize their efficiency.
- Keep abreast of the latest changes in the threat landscape, novel attack strategies, and security research pertinent to AI Products and Agents.
