Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 4 years of of experience with site reliability engineering focused on building and maintaining scalable, reliable systems.
- 4 years of experience in automation and coding in Python.
- 3 years of experience leading projects.
- 3 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in Linux system administration.
- 3 years of experience in Kubernetes.
- Experience in Linux administration.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google Cloud's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.In this role, you will be responsible for the production readiness, reliability, and scalability of the GDC Connected platform as part of Google Distributed Cloud, Connected SRE. You will extend Google Cloud infrastructure and services to the edge through this platform, which runs on hardware located on customer premises but fully managed by Google. You will focus on the foundational services of GDC Connected, including the Kubernetes cluster, management plane, and core enabling services, aiming to provide a stable and reliable base for both customer workloads and higher-level first-party services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the reliability strategy, direction, and roadmaps for the entire GDC Connected product.
- Engineer and maintain the systems and tools necessary to operate the platform at scale, focusing on areas like SLOs, monitoring, rollout safety, and production safety systems.
- Partner with development teams on design, launches, and ongoing operations.
- Share oncall responsibilities with the dev teams to ensure the platform meets customer expectations and SLAs.
- Foster a culture of reliability across the GDC engineering organization.
