Senior Technical Program Manager, Advanced Spares Inventory Management

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 7 years of experience in MRO Spares Planning, service logistics, or inventory optimization within an operational environment.
  • 5 years of experience with a Tier 1 ERP system (e.g., SAP) for inventory, and with data analysis tools like SQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) or similar hybrid cloud infrastructure supply chain operations.
  • Experience in supplier development strategies to enhance the capability and performance of key partners.
  • Excellent investigative thinking and ability to use data for process control (e.g., statistical process control) to drive operational excellence.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

This effort is supported by two critical leaders: the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, who develops the sourcing and supplier strategy for Original Equipment Manufacturer hardware and system integration partners, and the Senior Advanced Spares Management Leader, who develops the global strategy for critical spare parts inventory to ensure optimal service levels for field operations while driving down Total Cost of Ownership through advanced demand forecasting and inventory optimization.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement multi-echelon inventory optimization policies to balance service levels with cost minimization for spares.
  • Utilize statistical and machine learning models (leveraging predictive data) to generate highly accurate, long-term spare parts demand forecasts.
  • Develop and oversee the end-to-end Lifecycle Management plan, from initial provisioning to part retirement, to mitigate Excess and Obsolete (E&O) risk.
  • Lead strategic sourcing and negotiation of critical spares, and optimize the global distribution network for time-critical shipments.
  • Interface with Engineering and Finance to align spare parts strategy with asset uptime goals, own Enterprise Resource Planning/Computerized Maintenance Management System (ERP/CMMS) data integrity, and provide executive performance reports.
