Senior Site Negotiator, Data Center Acquisition and Development

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
  • Experience working with colocations or data centers managed by third-party vendors.
  • Experience managing utility agreements, energy-related issues, in financial modeling, and implementing clean energy initiatives.
  • Experience with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial-class electrical and cooling technology, or other related technical areas.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with real estate markets within the Americas and establishing infrastructure in markets.
  • Experience in collocation agreements, site selection for industrial-scale projects, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, construction, utility agreements management, energy challenges, implementing clean energy initiatives, or financial modeling.
  • Experience in economic development policy, financial modeling, infrastructure development, agreement drafting/redlining, and presentation development.
  • Experience building and managing teams, with broad cross-functional engagement.

As Google's products and services grow to serve our billions of users, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future. It's a big job that involves everything from operating underwater cables to finding data center space. In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.

As a Data Center Strategic Negotiator, you will combine your deep real estate development knowledge with tech industry savvy to ensure we have a healthy portfolio of sites ready for development to support Google's growth. You will work with specific project teams on site development, delivering off-site utility infrastructure, managing relationships with local officials, utilities, and AHJ’s (Authority Having Jurisdiction), and presenting portfolio recommendations to our Tech leadership.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$302,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Foster, structure, negotiate, and land uniquely transactions supporting delivery of data center inventory to meet short and long-term objectives across the Americas. Focus on the most agreements across the region in terms of total contract value, scale, and complexity.
  • Play a key role in expansion efforts at existing data centers priority metros, as well as acquiring inventory in new regions prioritized by Google.
  • Be responsible for material contributions to help deliver on an official strategy that encompasses dozens of markets across two continents, and growing at a rapid clip.
  • Be responsible for acting as a leader for Global Technical Infrastructure, engaging with other leaders across the region and globally.
  • Be responsible for converting and representing our core priorities and values with regional political leadership and other external parties.
