Technical Solutions Engineer Manager, Networking

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 13 years of experience in troubleshooting and advocating for customer's needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).
  • 13 years of experience with two or more of the following: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP.
  • Experience in reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript) or in system design.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Google Cloud networking services, protocols, and tools.
  • Ability to analyze network issues and identify root causes.
  • Ability to lead and guide a team of support engineers.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, engineers, and management.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues.

The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Support regional Networking lead centers on Google Cloud networking, experience with traditional, on-premises networking infrastructure is a significant advantage.

In this role, you will work with physical network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls to provide an understanding of how networks function at a fundamental level. You will translate to cloud networking, aiding customers operate hybrid cloud environments, understanding network topologies, and appreciating the underlying principles that govern network behavior. You will work on networking technologies beyond the cloud (e.g, Software Defined Networking (SDN)), network virtualization, various network protocols).Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a performing networking support team, setting priorities aligned with organizational goals. Conduct regular check-ins to provide coaching, feedback, and performance insights.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Google Cloud networking (e.g., Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Interconnect, Load Balancing, Domain Name System (DNS)) and protocols (e.g., Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Guide troubleshooting of packet flows using diagnostic tools to ensure issue resolution.
  • Oversee and resolve escalations, ensuring communication and collaboration across customers, engineering, and Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) teams.
  • Identify and drive enhancements in processes, tools, and documentation through automation, analytics, and customer insights.
  • Advocate network reliability, performance, and security by tracking metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), Customer Satisfaction (CSAT), escalation rates) and using data to improve customer experience and service quality.
