Principal Engineering Analyst, Responsible AI Testing

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 7 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or experience in a scripting/programming language (e.g. Python).
  • Experience with modeling, experimentation, and causal inference.
  • Experience in Trust and Safety, AI Risk, or policy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Trust and Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. In this role, you will work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed. You will promote trust in Google and ensure the highest levels of user safety.

Within the RAI Testing Sustainability team, we're driving a transformation in how we approach AI testing. We partner closely across Trust and Safety, product, and engineering teams to integrate AI and automation, turning AI insights into action.

A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Leverage SQL and Python, building robust and scalable scripts and workflows automating data collection, enrichment, and delivery, maximizing the team's impact.
  • Be the bridge between technical and non-technical teams, translating complex Trust and Safety Intelligence needs into clear, actionable requirements for data solutions. Work autonomously, identifying and problem-solving while collaborating effectively within a team to develop comprehensive solutions.
  • Standardize processes and methodologies for data analysis that can be applied across topics, ensuring consistency and efficiency in generating valuable insights.
  • Transform raw data into compelling visualizations and reports that clearly communicate key findings and actionable recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Work with sensitive content or situations. Be exposed to graphic, controversial, or upsetting topics or content.
