Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Android app development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in Kotlin programming language.
  • 1 year of experience with AI/Agentic tooling.
  • Ability to take ownership of solutions and exert influence without authority.

Android Bench is a leading suite of tools and tasks designed to assist LLM/Agentic developers in adhering to Android best practices, reducing boilerplate code, and ensuring consistent code performance across Android versions and devices. This allows developers to focus on their core mission and unique code. Specifically, this role demands both technical expertise and strong partnership experience. We are looking to collaborate with top LLM creators and major AI/Agentic app partners to cultivate a thriving ecosystem, enabling professional Android developers and builders to exceed on Android. The Android team is continuously innovating to simplify and accelerate the creation of high-quality Android apps that better serve Android users globally.

This Developer Relations Engineer role, within the ADR Developer Engineering team, focuses on empowering Large Language Model (LLM) builders to enhance productivity, accuracy, and safety. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will contribute to shaping the ecosystem roadmap, fostering a seamless developer experience for Android developers. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with developers, generating actionable developer insights, creating comprehensive guidance, writing exemplary code, authoring insightful blog posts, influencing engineering roadmaps, proposing impactful product changes, uncovering compelling developer success stories, and inspiring the broader developer community.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with LLM developers to drive the acceptance and adoption of Android Bench.
  • Engage with leading app developers to benchmark their real-world codebases against LLMs.
  • Provide engineering guidance and support to design, build, launch, and enhance developer products.
  • Become a subject matter expert in AI/Agentic, coding and tools, identifying opportunities for Google and developers to create products for users.
  • Ideate, design, and implement innovative solutions for the Android Bench suite of products, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.
