Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects.
- 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
- Experience in machine learning in abuse detection or with Ads.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience working in Spam Detection.
- Experience with Statistics, Data Science and SQL Pipelines.
- Experience with Natural Language Processing and Generative AI.

As a part of the Technical Lead Manager, you will lead the fight against ad fraud across Google’s core engine. You will define the technical strategy, cultivate a team and deliver a massive impact on the Search Ads ecosystem.Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end defense strategy for Search Ads as the domain authority with understanding of how Invalid Traffic impacts all stakeholders.
- Direct Research and Development (R&D) technical initiatives to measure, analyze and categorize spam, using advanced tools and agentic workflows to pinpoint elusive threats.
- Guide the team to engineer resilient defenses by designing and implementing new signals and advanced ML techniques at Google-scale. driving efficiency and defense velocity by embracing AI/Agent technologies.
- Build, grow and inspire a team of engineers, functioning as a leader by owning the team’s annual and quarterly strategy.
- Shape the defense roadmap across AdSpam and key SAGE partner organizations while driving cross-functional capabilities by building high-leverage relationships with Product Leads across Search Ads to influence partners.
