Senior Software Engineering Manager, Google Ads Advertising Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in engineering, technical innovation, and in leading engineering teams.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • Experience in managing teams locally and globally distributed.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience at a high tech company with an established reputation for driving cutting edge products, and with Ads.
  • Understanding of product and API design.
  • Ability to think in a strategic manner to develop innovative product solutions, with global mindset and able to operate effectively across regional boundaries
  • Ability to recruit and develop top technical talent and to lead through influence and work effectively with technical and cross-functional geographically distributed teams.
  • Excellent investigative skills.

The Advertiser Platform (AP) is the bedrock of Google Ads, providing programmatic interfaces and data to power the Advertiser experiences.

AP Infra team is responsible for all the infrastructure components that help advertisers from all over the world to build advertising campaigns to realize their business goals. Google supports all advertisers, from small and local businesses to large fortune 500 companies, and from the most established markets to emerging markets with significant growth.

AP Infra team plays a critical role as curators and infra providers for first-party and third-party use cases across Google Ads, Search Ads 360 and Display Ads 360. Google is constantly innovating to deliver the most effective advertising and commerce opportunities of tomorrow.

We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a high performing engineering team responsible for the following portfolios: Ads Data Layer, Change History, and DevAI Platform.
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional partners including product management, UI/UX and T/PgM to drive product direction, and collaborate with leads from many Ads Product Area Groups and PAs across Alphabet.
  • Contribute strategically and technically to influence the broader buying platforms and Ads goal at Google.
