Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in technical program management or a related field.
  • 15 years of experience leading and developing program management teams.
  • Experience managing software delivery for developer-facing products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Geo's product portfolio (Google Maps, Google Earth, Waze) and related technologies.
  • Ability to drive strategic initiatives, continuous improvement, and manage organizational change in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, and ability to influence and align senior leaders and stakeholders with conflicting objectives.
  • Deep technical expertise and judgment, including ability to understand and connect the dots across multiple complex platforms and services.
  • Executive presence and ability to articulate complex strategies and plans to executive audiences.
  • Track record of success in a PMO leadership role, driving vision, strategy, and execution for complex product portfolios.

With a global reach, this product is a critical consumer product and part of an ecosystem to keep Geo’s data model fresh as a surface for user generated content. The Geo Consumer team is at the heart of this mission, responsible for the core Google Maps app and the experience platforms that power experiences across Geo and Google.

We are seeking a Program Management Office (PMO) Director to join the leadership team for Geo Consumer and Geo Program Insights & Operations (GPIO) and provide oversight for the Geo Auto PMO. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the entire portfolio of features and platforms for Google Maps, ensuring the successful delivery of programs that impact users and drive our reach, engagement, and business goals. You will lead a large team of program managers, manage complex cross-functional and cross-product area collaborations, and play a critical leadership role in Geo's planning and governance processes.

The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $262,000-$369,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the T/PgM team for Geo Consumer and provide oversight for the Auto PMO team.
  • Drive the annual planning process for Geo Consumer, defining and contributing to key results at the Geo and Knowledge & Information (K&I) product area levels.
  • Establish and manage governance forums and processes to monitor project progress, risks, and mitigations throughout the year for the engineering and product team.
  • Oversee complex, cross-product area programs, managing dependencies and collaborations with teams in Search, Ads, Core, and Platforms & Ecosystems.
  • Serve as a key member of the GPIO leadership team, a horizontal team consisting of PMO, data science, product operations, etc.
