UX Engineer, Chrome Desktop

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
  • Experience in application development in at least one platform/area (e.g., web, iOS, Android, CompDes, XR).
  • Experience with front-end development including Typescript, CSS, and HTML.


Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience developing responsive, adaptive, and performant websites and applications.
  • 3 years of experience as a front-end developer, UX Engineer, creative or design technologist, or in a prototyping design environment.
  • Experience with ES2015+ or TypeScript and modern libraries/frameworks (e.g., Node, Lit, React, Angular).
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Swift, Kotlin, Dart, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with vector and motion graphics, including SVG, HTML5 Canvas, and animation using JavaScript and CSS (e.g., GreenSock, d3, ProcessingJS, and Web Animation API).

As a UX Engineer, you'll work on the front end of our products in a challenging, fast-paced environment, helping to bridge UX best practices and production execution. You’ll demonstrate your creativity, analytical skills, and knowledge of user facing technologies to enable efficient, high quality execution and communications and launch innovative features to a global audience.

The team develops products that help users connect, communicate, and collaborate with others.

Chrome is dedicated to building a better, more open web. We’re focused on making a better browser (on both desktop and mobile) to help users take advantage of all the web has to offer in a safe and secure way.Chrome is available across all major platforms — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. We also built Chrome as an open source project so the entire web ecosystem could benefit from the latest innovations in speed, simplicity and security.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Advise, collaborate, and synthesize feedback from UX designers and researchers.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on final implementation and polish.
  • Meet accessibility standards.
  • Write and review code in Chrome's codebase.
  • Build a wide range of prototypes, and help the organization to accelerate overall exploration effort.
