Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with Front-End Development.
- Experience programming with Kotlin or Java.
- Experience with Android as a platform and building libraries for developers.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- Experience in building UI Components for Android applications.
- Experience in building, maintaining, and releasing production Android applications.
- Experience partnering across Product Management, UX, Program Management, and Quality assurance to deliver on organizational commitments.
- Familiarity with Android assistive technologies and Localization/Internationalization.

Google Design Platform (GDP) is a cross-product, cross-platform design and engineering team. We take the most impactful design opportunities and make them a reality through UX guidance and platform code. We make Google’s products more efficient at building beautifully designed products for everyone.
We deliver the highest quality Material design and engineering to Google and the world. We do this through our platforms (Android, iOS, Web) by creating design guidelines, specs and reusable components. We help first-party customers throughout the GDP customer experience journey resulting in improved quality.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (UX Design, Research, Product Management, Engineering) to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience.
- Develop features with Material Designers, Material UX, and other Material software engineers.
- Develop design documents, API proposals that shape how engineers use our library.
- Develop and iterate on user interface components and features using Kotlin/Java.
- Contribute to the technical design and architecture of front-end systems.
