About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

GPay India's mission is to make money simple for every Indian. In India's highly engaged and regulatory landscape, our mission is to sustain and grow our market leadership by focusing on reliability and convenience. We build and maintain the systems that manage billions of transactions, navigating the unique issues of India's digital payment ecosystem. We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Technical Program Manager (TPgM) to help us scale our platforms, drive initiatives, and manage our intricate web of internal and external partnerships.

The GPay India (IN) Platform team is the foundation of GPay India's success, powering services for over 200 million users. Our goal is to make payments reliable, fast, and secure for every Indian. We are responsible for the entire infrastructure that powers our payment services, including core UPI transaction processing, user and merchant onboarding, and the money flow infrastructure for all India-specific Forms of Payment (FOPs).

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple cross-functional technical programs with significant impact on the GPay IN Platform's goals, such as reliability improvements, compliance with regulatory mandates, and the growth of new payment methods including UPI and Tap n Pay with Cards.
  • Define program charters and create project plans that break down ambiguous, long-term issues into discrete phases with clear objectives, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish relationships and drive alignment with stakeholders at all levels, including external partners like PSP banks, regulatory bodies (e.g., RBI, NPCI), and internal teams across Product, Engineering, Legal and Compliance.
  • Own and manage a portfolio of programs, creating dashboards and processes to track progress, manage dependencies, and facilitate leadership reviews and decision-making.
  • Use technical judgment to evaluate engineering scope, and contribute to technical analysis and design discussions with engineers.
