Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a PhD degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative fields or Master's degree with 3 years of experience in quantitative areas.
  • 5 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a PhD degree.
  • Experience in experiments (e.g., design of experiments, experiment logging, multiple hypothesis testing, causal inference).
  • Experience working in a development lifecycle, defining requirements, checking in code, testing, staging, production.
  • Ability to be collaborative and to build excellent trust and relationships with cross-functional teams.

As a Data Scientist on the Developer AI team, you'll be in a team that applies statistical aptitude and data science to understand AI opportunities and the developer productivity as large as that of Google. You'll be at the vanguard of using advanced data science and machine learning to comprehend and address the most significant hurdles our software engineers face. You will have the rare chance to work with a vast and intricate dataset of developer activities. Your insights will directly influence the next wave of AI-enhanced tools for every developer at Google. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of software development at Google. You will empower Alphabet and product area leadership by providing the metrics, statistical and machine learning methodologies, and insights needed to chart data-driven strategies for our developer-focused missions and products. Your work will directly contribute to accelerating software development through the power of AI as you help build better developer technology for all of Google. Furthermore, you will provide critical data-driven insights for key AI initiatives, including opportunity sizing, impact evaluation, and in-depth user journey analysis, to ensure we are building the most effective tools for our engineers.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to instrument and gather high-quality data, laying the groundwork for understanding and enhancing AI products and developer productivity.
  • Perform deep analysis of developer processes and issues to pinpoint where AI-driven solutions can deliver the most significant impact.
  • Define and track the success of our AI-powered developer tools.
  • Move beyond reactive data analysis to discover latent trends, forecast future requirements, and prove the return on investment of our projects.
  • Present your discoveries and insights to leadership, guiding data-centric decisions that will define the future of developer tools at Google.
