Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
- 3 years of experience in IP Infrastructures, protocols (e.g., ISIS, OSPF, BGP, LACP) and networking mechanisms (e.g., BFD, QOS, Multicast, ECMP, PFC).
- 3 years of experience with network systems, troubleshooting, productionization and deployment.
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
- Experience with Data Center Networking, including routing protocols and overlay networks such as EVPN-VXLAN and IPv6.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with planning and designing large-scale networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) is designed as a converged hardware, software solution for customers (i.e., Public Sector, Enterprise, Telco, Retail). GDC includes dedicated hardware, network fabric, operating systems, and a curated set of Google Cloud services, providing a consistent cloud experience in controlled environments. GDC network fabric consists of multiple layers including physical network, overlay network, host and Kubernetes network.
As a Network Engineer on the GDC Fabric Networking team, you will be part of a network architect and development team to work with your Tech Lead (TL) and teammates to design, develop, maintain, and support distributed data center network systems and solutions, with end-to-end validations and productionizations, and upholding high engineering and operational excellence standards.

The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Drive the quantifiable analysis of measurements, or data and capacity forecast models for making networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver predictable user experience.
- Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them.
- Develop software that improves the performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of network systems.
- Manage On-call participation to support production leveraging automated monitoring and alerting.
- Operationalize stable, scalable platforms, minimizing downtime of GDC on-premise deployments, for Networking productionization with KPIs monitoring and rollout safety.
