Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • 7 years of experience leading and managing cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, specifically supporting L5 through L10 products.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and advanced statistical methods for process control and qualification.
  • Ability in leadership and decision-making to drive projects.
  • Ability to build a foundation in teamwork and coaching engineers or cross-functional partners.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, focused on driving systemic improvements.

Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

As a Manufacturing Engineer Manager, you will lead and manage multiple large projects or a single mission-critical project. In this role, your core responsibility is to own the design and implementation of processes, procedures, and methods, often building them from the ground up. Your impact must extend beyond your immediate work group, influencing cross-functional, cross-product, and cross-Business Unit initiatives and also provide direct supervision and guidance to engineers.Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the
hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting-edge custom hardware designed and made in-house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers, affecting millions of Google users.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process optimization and qualification for mission-critical components (L5-L11), driving manufacturing yield and throughput improvements.
  • Develop and execute broad manufacturing strategies, including tooling and systems to satisfy cost and capacity requirements.
  • Drive cross-functional advancement and implementation of advanced technologies from development through to mass production.
  • Implement high-complexity Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and process control implementation using statistical methods (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Co-ordinate teams and vendors to ensure all fixtures, tooling, software, and data are available in a timely manner and within budget.
