Eemshaven, Netherlands

  • Welcome

Google is proud to call the Netherlands home to one of our data centers.

The internet is growing fast, and so is demand for our services, from search to Gmail and YouTube. In order to keep up with this growth, in 2016 we opened a new data center in Eemshaven, Netherlands, investing €600 million. In 2018, we announced a €500 million expansion of the campus. In June 2019, we announced a further Eemshaven expansion, as well as the planning of a new site in Agriport, about 130 miles south. This will bring our total Netherlands data center investment to €2.5 billion.

Our Eemshaven data center employs about 250 people, including IT specialists, engineers, security guards, catering staff, and facility managers.

In the Netherlands, Google has agreements with wind farms in Delfzijl and Zeeland (Krammer and Bouwdokken) and a solar energy park in Delfzijl Sunport for the purchase of renewable energy for the data center.

    • Community Grants

      Community grants

Google community grants range from €10,000 to €50,000 and are intended for nonprofit and certain public organizations. We will not fund for-profit companies through this program. When evaluating proposals, we consider impact on the data center community and surrounding areas, measurable impact of the resources on achieving the mission, collaboration with other organizations and the ability to leverage other resources in the community, and the integration of Google in-kind or volunteer resources to maximize the impact.
