Ohio State baseball commit Joey Velazquez flips to Michigan football

Michigan added a new commitment to its 2019 recruiting class — in both football and baseball.

Columbus (Ohio) St. Francis De Sales safety Joey Velazquez announced his commitment to the Wolverines in both football and baseball in a tweet on Friday.

Velazquez had previously been committed to Ohio State to play baseball.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Velazquez is a 3-star prospect and the No. 968 overall recruit in the nation. He’s also ranked as the No. 43 player from Ohio and the No. 79 safety in the nation.

The 6-foot-0, 205-pounder becomes U-M’s 11th commitment of the 2019 recruiting class. The class currently ranks No. 17 in the nation, and is second-best in the Big Ten behind Ohio State.
