Browns coach Kevin Stefanski offers optimistic injury update after the Week 2 win

One of the underappreciated facets of the entertaining Cleveland Browns win over the Bengals in Week 2 is the relative lack of new injuries. Defensive end Adrian Clayborn was the only Browns player who left the game early with any injury note.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski offered a pretty optimistic outlook for the team’s overall health in his press conference on Friday. Without going into any detail on any of the players who have been out, Stefanski offered this assessment,

“It is nice to have this weekend here and get these extra days of rehab. They are all progressing. They are all moving in the right direction. Do I know that they are all going to play? I really don’t know at this point, but I think they are all heading in the right direction.”

Among those Stefanski was referring were the four inactive from Thursday night who did not play due to injuries. CB Greedy Williams, LB Mack Wilson and CB Kevin Johnson could all at least return to practice next week. So could DE Olivier Vernon, who missed the Bengals game with an abdominal injury. Right tackle Jack Conklin was active for the game but did not play due to an ankle injury that left him as a limited participant all week.

The Browns get three extra days of rest after playing on Thursday night before welcoming the Washington Football Team to FirstEnergy Stadium in Week 3.
