For Las Vegas Raiders halfback Jalen Richard, the entire team is “100 percent” behind Derek Carr amid talks that the quarterback might lose his spot as starting quarterback.

Richard has been teammates with Carr since the halfback entered the league in 2016. He has seen the quarterback's ups and downs. 2019 was a particularly excruciating time for Carr as his struggles trickled on over to the team failing to make the playoffs. Rumors mushroomed that Carr might be sent to the bench.

Speaking on the Keeping it 300 podcast, Richard claims that the entire team believes that Carr can and will bounce back.

“I don’t think people understand how much Gruden truly asks of his quarterback. With all the pressures and everything, you see DC go out there and numbers continue to increase,” Richard said as transcribed by Heavy. “You saw what he did in his second year in Gruden’s offense. He was more [calm], understood situations better and continues to grow. Man, we’re behind him 100% and everybody on [the Raiders] believes he can get it done.”

Richard beefed up his argument noting that Carr was able to get his pass interceptions down. And in his eyes, Carr is constantly improving.

“DC, man, I’ve never seen nobody be able to put the ball where they want to put it. Like, he’s crazy accurate. He’s got his interceptions down. I think this year, you guys are going to see an even better DC. Every year he’s been progressing regardless of y’all see at the team.”

Whether Carr keeps his spot as the Raiders' starting quarterback or gets demoted to the bench, best believe that Richard and the rest of the squad will be there to support him.
