CBS Sports mock has Jaguars trading Yannick Ngakoue to Giants

Defensive end Yannick Ngakoue has made it abundantly clear that he has no interest in remaining with the Jacksonville Jaguars despite their franchise designation, and has spent much of his time this offseason flirting with the New York Giants.

The Giants, in obvious need of an edge rusher, would make sense as a potential suitor for Ngakoue, but nothing of substance has materialized there.

Might that change later this month at the 2020 NFL Draft? Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports thinks it’s a possibility, which he represented in a recent mock draft.

Wilson has the Giants acquiring Ngakoue, the No. 9 pick and the No. 99 pick in exchange for the No. 4 pick, which Jacksonville uses to select Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert.

With Ngakoue then in tow, Wilson has the Giants using the No. 9 pick to select Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton, who is widely considered a plug-and-play starter.

This scenario certainly is interesting and would be a great overall haul for the Giants with one glaring exception — that No. 99 pick has already been awarded to New York as part of the NFL’s compensatory pick formula.

That error aside, this would be a tremendous all-around get for the Giants. They would trade down for the first time in Dave Gettleman’s career, gain assets, land a true edge rusher and then a starting offensive tackle? Where do we sign up?
